5 Risky Driving Behaviors as Defined by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
Video Transcript
Serious injury motor vehicle accidents are rampant in the state of Maryland especially in the Baltimore City and Prince George's County areas. And the National Traffic Highway Safety Administration has highlighted five negligent driving behaviors that really contribute to all these motor vehicle accidents being so rampant. Number one is drunk driving. You obviously know what that is. Drinking and then going on the road to drive on a highway, on the side road is never a smart choice. Number two is drug impaired driving. A lot of times the persons will have marijuana or some other substance maybe cocaine or otherwise, and then get into a car and drive on road also should be a no-no. Distracted driving. Usually this involves persons using their cell phone, fiddling with the radio, or speaking to somebody, one of the passengers in the car and having their eyes off the road. Number four is speeding and this one's rather obvious. There are not a lot of speed cameras in the state of Maryland. And Maryland is actively trying to help this, but usually it's not uncommon for many drivers to be driving twenty to thirty miles over the speed limit. And number five, Drowsy driving. This usually involves persons not getting enough sleep. Maybe just generally tired, generally fatigued, getting on the road especially on the highways and trying to go a long distance when they should have no business being on the road. If each and everybody in the state of Maryland would avoid these five very rich behaviors, it would make the roads a much safer and better place throughout the state of Maryland.
