How do I bring a personal injury claim if I'm involved in a motor vehicle collision involving an Uber rideshare driver? Hey folks, John, Leppler here, personal injury lawyer right here in the Baltimore area. And today I want to talk about one of the practice areas that my law firm handles, which is representing injured victims, where they're involved in a motor vehicle collision involving an Uber rideshare driver. Everybody knows what Uber is. Uber has taken over for Yellow, Checker and other taxicab services now. If somebody wants to use Uber and get an Uber, when they want to travel somewhere, they simply go onto the Uber app on their cell phone, they request an Uber driver, and the Uber driver picks them up, takes them to their destination, and that person pays Uber for the Uber taxi service. But what happens if you're in an accident and you're injured at no fault of your own involving an Uber ride-share driver? Well, there are different scenarios, for example, if you are a passenger in an Uber ride and you get involved in a motor vehicle accident, and you suffer injuries, Uber's insurance coverage will pay you up to $2,500 in personal injury protection. That's $2,500 of your medical bills paid for by Uber through their insurance coverage. Now what happens if you're an Uber passenger and your own Uber driver causes an accident while you're en route on the Uber ride? Well, Uber's insurance coverage will cover up to $1 million for your medical bills and any future medical bills you may need, lost wage, and pain and suffering. Final scenario. If you're a passenger in an Uber ride and somebody else causes the accident, but your Uber driver is not at fault, Uber's insurance coverage will cover you for a certain amount of uninsured underinsured motorist coverage. Here in the state of Maryland, Uber will provide you at least $30,000 in uninsured motorist coverage if this happens. Now, what happens if you're a pedestrian walking across the street or you're driving your own car and another Uber driver causes an accident involving you, hits your car, and you're not at fault at all. Well, Uber's insurance coverage under this scenario will cover you up to $1 Million for your medical treatment, lost wages and any pain and suffering you endured from the motor vehicle accident. Navigating Uber's different insurance coverage and bringing a claim against Uber is always a daunting process. Uber will fight you tooth and nail to pay you as little as possible.
